Two Types of Training
Classroom Training
Reveal how to integrate the BII’s California Green Builder program (energy efficiency, wood and water
conservation, on-site construction waste reduction, indoor air quality, and inspections and diagnostics
components) with the current Energy Efficiency Standards’ compliance methods. Learn how to qualify for
the Federal Tax Credits and utility rebates. Your project will be closer to carbon neutral and probably cost
neutral as well! Learn about the required compliance forms, new lighting requirements, HVAC changes,
and the value of HERS raters. Jurisdictions, builders and subcontractors are welcome.
- Classroom training is 90
minutes - 4 hours long, average training 2.5 hours
- Convenient location from which to choose
- Builder’s own office or the ConSol training center
- Subcontractors encouraged to attend
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 enrollees
- Builder must build in PG&E service Territory
On-Site Training
Demonstrate inspections required to meet green guidelines and takes place at a community in progress.
For this on-site training, a house at rough and/or final, and a copy of a CF-1R will be required. The
field staff will be trained on current code implementation, evaluating performance and installation, and
significant installation changes. Builders will save money on labor and materials by meeting compliance
the first time. The builder will learn what forms are needed, and when, and to whom they go, saving time.
HERS raters will perform duct tests, blower door tests, air flow tests, and train field staff how and why
HERS testing is performed. This will be followed up with a discussion of the test results. A written report
is also sent to the builder. Builders and their subcontractors are encouraged to attend.
- On-site training is approximately 2.5 hours long
